Add Pay by Bank Post-Checkout for Ecomm Orders

New feature: You can now add Pay by Bank as your payment method after placing an online or mobile order — right from your order confirmation email or SMS, before your order is fulfilled.

If you placed an online or mobile order for curbside pickup, drive-thru, delivery, or in-store pickup and didn't use Pay by Bank at checkout, you can still switch to Pay by Bank before your order is ready. Look for the Pay by Bank button in your confirmation email, or click the direct link to pay with Pay by Bank in your confirmation SMS (text) message to get started.

Before you begin

To use this feature, make sure:

  • Your order has not yet been finalized at the dispensary — the switch to Pay by Bank must happen before the dispensary completes your order at the register.
  • The dispensary you ordered from offers Pay by Bank. You can filter on Dutchie.com for dispensaries that use Pay by Bank by following these steps.

How to add Pay by Bank to your order

1

Open your order confirmation email or SMS

After placing your order, check your email inbox or text messages for your order confirmation. You'll see a Pay by Bank button included in the message.

2

Tap the Pay by Bank button

Tapping the button opens the Pay by Bank portal in your browser. You'll be prompted to log in to your existing Pay by Bank account, or create a new one if you haven't signed up yet.

Link your bank account (new users only)

If this is your first time using Pay by Bank, you'll need to link a checking or savings account via Plaid. Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in to your bank and authorize the connection.

Note: Not all financial institutions are supported. If your bank isn't listed, you'll need to use a different payment method for this order.

Confirm your payment

Once you're logged in and your bank is linked, review your order details and tap Confirm to finalize Pay by Bank as your payment method.

Your order now has Pay by Bank payment attached

Any follow-up communications about your order will confirm it has been authorized for Pay by Bank payment and display the bank account used for payment.

Note: As with any Pay by Bank order, a balance check is completed at time of Pay by Bank attachment to the order and when the order is finalized at the dispensary. Dutchie does not hold funds for Pay by Bank orders, please ensure funds remain in the associated bank account until the transaction shows as "posted" to your bank account (generally the next business day following your order completion at the dispensary).

Frequently asked questions

What order types are eligible?

Orders placed online through Dutchie Ecommerce or a dispensary's mobile app are eligible — including curbside pickup, drive-thru, delivery, and in-store pickup. Orders placed on a kiosk are not currently supported.

What if I don't see a Pay by Bank button in my confirmation?

The Pay by Bank button only appears if the dispensary you ordered from has both Pay by Bank and order status emails enabled. If you don't see it, the option may not be available for that location. Contact the dispensary directly for payment alternatives.

Can I still switch to Pay by Bank after my order has been processed?

No — the Pay by Bank link is only available before your order is fulfilled. Once the dispensary has processed your order, the link will no longer be active and you will need to pay with your original payment method at pickup or delivery.

Are there any fees for using Pay by Bank?

Dutchie does not charge any fees for signing up or using Pay by Bank. However, the dispensary may apply their own payment processing fees. You'll see any applicable fees clearly displayed before you confirm your payment.

When will the payment be debited from my account?

Your bank account will be debited one business day after your order is completed at the dispensary. No funds are held at the time you confirm Pay by Bank. Make sure your account balance covers the order total until the next business day to avoid any issues.
